After years of pining for a legal public poker room, Maine players are now proud to claim ownership of Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway’s Poker Room in Bangor. Previously known as Hollywood Slots, this venue has been expanded to offer several tables of limit hold’em and no-limit hold’em, with dealers trained to spread Omaha and seven-card stud if demand arises. The Hollywood continues to expand its number of poker tables to satisfy Maine’s playing population. New non-poker casinos are regularly being opened in the state, so it seems likely that the Hollywood will face some healthy competition for players once these venues begin to spread poker. The Maine poker economy is just beginning, so online poker is not available to residents or visitors yet.
